Snotgrub is one of the more infamous Gretchin characters within Warhammer’s Ork lore, typically found in the service of the unpredictable and eccentric Ork Mekboyz. Like many Gretchin, Snotgrub is small, sneaky, and often tasked with menial or dangerous work. His cunning nature, however, sets him apart from the average Grot, as he’s known to survive in the chaotic and violent environment of the Ork tribes. Gretchin like Snotgrub are often used as fodder, workers, or assistants to their much larger Ork masters, but their innate cleverness allows them to excel in tasks that require more dexterity and cunning than brute strength.
Snotgrub’s claim to fame comes from his role as an “assistant” to Big Mek Orks, particularly in constructing and maintaining the ramshackle vehicles and weapons Orks use in their endless wars. His tendency to survive even the most dangerous situations, often involving experimental Ork technology, has made him somewhat of a legend among the Gretchin. While Orks see him as a useful tool, Snotgrub himself likely views his work as a constant gamble between survival and destruction, where his wit keeps him alive just a little longer than the average Grot. His presence adds a layer of comic relief in Warhammer’s grim universe, as his misadventures with volatile Ork machinery often lead to catastrophic and hilarious consequences.
