Nurgle Cultists are twisted, decayed followers of the Chaos God Nurgle, who embodies disease, decay, and the inevitability of death. These cultists are often drawn from the desperate and downtrodden of society, individuals who have suffered unbearable afflictions or lived in squalor, seeking comfort in Nurgle’s grotesque embrace. Unlike other Chaos followers, who might be motivated by bloodlust or ambition, Nurgle’s cultists are driven by the promise of relief from their suffering. Nurgle grants them immunity from pain through the diseases he bestows, transforming their rotting bodies into living vessels of infection, spreading his plagues across the Imperium.

Physically, Nurgle Cultists are a wretched sight. Their bodies are bloated and covered in sores, pus-filled boils, and gangrenous wounds, yet they continue to fight without hesitation or pain. Their skin hangs in tatters, sometimes revealing exposed bone or tissue, while their blood and bile leak freely from their bloated forms. What would be fatal to most is merely a gift from Nurgle, and the cultists view their decay as a sign of his favor. Despite their outward appearance of weakness, these cultists are resilient, bolstered by Nurgle’s blessings. Their bodies may be slow and shambling, but they can endure wounds that would incapacitate other warriors, fueled by the foul vitality of their patron god.

In battle, Nurgle Cultists are often deployed as shock troops or expendable forces. They charge into the fray with reckless abandon, spreading disease and contagion as much as they spread death. Armed with rudimentary weapons like rusted blades, improvised guns, or even their diseased fists, their true weapon is the filth they carry within them. Even if they fall in battle, the plagues they carry can infect their enemies, continuing Nurgle’s cycle of life, death, and rebirth. Their devotion to Nurgle is absolute, for in his rot they find salvation, embracing the inevitability of decay with grotesque joy.
