Tervigon: Tyranids’ Brood Mother of Doom

The Ultimate Bug Momma

Man, nothing screams Tyranid horror like the Tervigon stomping onto the battlefield, its bloated belly sacs writhing with unborn Termagants ready to flood the field. This massive synapse beast channels the Hive Mind’s psychic dominance, keeping the swarm cohesive and turning panicked gaunts into a relentless tide. Picture Imperial Guard lines crumbling as fresh waves of fleshborer-toting bugs pour from its back – pure nightmare fuel straight from the hive fleets. In the lore, Tervigons are the broodmothers of devastation, incubating endless infantry to overwhelm worlds in the name of the Great Devourer. They’re not just tough; they’re a symbol of the Tyranids’ infinite adaptability, evolving to birth whatever the Hive needs. As a 40k fan, I love how they embody that unstoppable swarm vibe – once one shows up, the planet’s doomed.

Tabletop Swarm Lord Supreme

Diving into 10th edition, the Tervigon is a beastly T11 monster with 16 wounds, a 2+ save, and OC5 to hold objectives like a champ. Its killer ability lets you respawn up to D3+3 Termagants in a nearby unit each Command phase, making your hordes basically unkillable. Stick it with Termagant blobs within 6″, and they gain Lethal Hits on ranged attacks – watch those fleshborers crit-fish marines into oblivion. Plus, it heals back D3 wounds every turn, laughing off all but the heaviest fire. In melee, massive scything talons shred infantry or swap for crushing claws to tango with tanks. For Nid players, it’s the perfect backline anchor – pair with big gaunt screens for that classic “endless swarm” cheese that feels so satisfying to pull off.
