Death Korps of Krieg Medic. Peter Laycock have been working on these prize pieces for many years for the Epic UK Grand Tournaments. He found this piece different to paint; more personal and perhaps more human in a way.

The Death Korps of Krieg Medic stands as a somber figure amidst the relentless warfare that defines the grim world of Warhammer 40,000. Serving within the ranks of the Death Korps, known for their grim determination and willingness to sacrifice everything for the Emperor, the Medic carries out his duties with the same unyielding resolve. Clad in the signature long coats and gas masks of Krieg soldiers, the Medic is often a figure of quiet efficiency, tending to the wounded in the brutal trenches or on the front lines of battle. The gas mask, an iconic part of the Krieg aesthetic, reflects the harsh, toxic environments they are accustomed to, as well as the impersonal, almost mechanical nature of their approach to war and survival.

In the field, a Death Korps Medic works with little regard for personal safety, moving through hails of bullets and artillery fire to tend to their comrades. Their role is not only to save lives but also to ensure that every soldier can return to the fight, as the Death Korps believe deeply in the expendability of the individual for the greater good of the Imperium. The Medic often performs grim triage, determining who can be saved and who is beyond help, always prioritizing the unit’s strength over any personal connection. Their tools, while basic, are wielded with clinical precision, reflecting the Krieg philosophy of cold, calculated efficiency in everything they do, even in the face of death.
