Lion El’Jonson, known as “The Black Lion,” is the Primarch of the Dark Angels Space Marine Legion in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. Discovered on the death world of Caliban and raised by the knightly Order of Caliban, he quickly rose to prominence as a legendary warrior. When the Emperor of Mankind found him, El’Jonson was given command of the Dark Angels. During the Great Crusade, he played a vital role in the Emperor’s efforts to reunite humanity. During the Horus Heresy, El’Jonson remained loyal, using his tactical genius to fight against the traitor legions.
After the Horus Heresy, the Dark Angels were tasked with hunting down the remaining traitors, but a dark secret haunts them: the existence of the Fallen, former Dark Angels who turned traitor. This secret mission defines much of the chapter’s actions. Lion El’Jonson mysteriously disappeared after the Heresy and is believed to be in a deep slumber within The Rock, the Dark Angels’ fortress-monastery. His legacy of honor, duty, and loyalty, alongside the chapter’s burden of secrecy, makes him one of the most enigmatic and revered figures in Warhammer 40,000.
