Lion El’Jonson and Angron: Primarchs of Legend and Fury

Lion El’Jonson – The First Among the Primarchs

Lion El’Jonson, one of the original Primarchs created by the Emperor, was discovered on the forested and mysterious world of Caliban. Raised among knights who battled the planet’s monstrous horrors, he developed into a brilliant strategist and peerless warrior. Upon being reunited with the Emperor, he was given command of the Dark Angels Space Marine Legion, shaping them into one of the most formidable forces of the Great Crusade. However, beneath their strength lay an undercurrent of secrecy, a trait that would define both the Lion and his Legion for millennia. His disciplined and calculating nature made him a fearsome opponent, yet his aloofness often distanced him from his brothers, leading to tension among the Primarchs.

The Fall of Caliban and the Sleep of Ages

During the Horus Heresy, the Dark Angels were largely absent from the decisive battles, fighting far from Terra. However, internal strife had long plagued the Legion, and when El’Jonson returned to Caliban, he found his homeworld consumed by rebellion. His former friend and second-in-command, Luther, had turned against him, leading a war that resulted in Caliban’s destruction. The battle left El’Jonson critically wounded, and he was taken by the mysterious Watchers in the Dark to the depths of the Dark Angels’ fortress-monastery, the Rock. There, he entered a deep, unnatural slumber known as the “Sleep of Ages,” hidden away until the day he is needed once more. His enigmatic legacy continues to cast a long shadow over the Dark Angels, who carry the burden of secrecy and betrayal while awaiting his prophesied return.

Angron – The Gladiator King of Nuceria

Angron, the Primarch of the World Eaters Legion, was discovered on the blood-soaked world of Nuceria, where he was enslaved and forced into brutal gladiatorial combat. Unlike many of his brothers, he did not rise to power through nobility or honor but through sheer, unrelenting violence. He led a rebellion of fellow gladiators, determined to overthrow the corrupt overlords of the planet, only to be torn away from them by the Emperor’s intervention. This forced separation left a wound on Angron’s soul, one that would never heal. The Butcher’s Nails, cruel cybernetic implants that drove him to endless rage, made him a living weapon—but at the cost of his sanity.

The Bloodthirsty Champion of Chaos

During the Horus Heresy, Angron threw himself into battle with an insatiable hunger for destruction, leading the World Eaters in a relentless campaign against the Imperium. He cared little for Horus’ grand strategy or political maneuvering, seeing only war and slaughter as worthy pursuits. His fury made him one of the most terrifying Primarchs on the battlefield, but it also led to recklessness, his thirst for blood often overriding tactical thought. After his transformation into a Daemon Prince of Khorne, his connection to his former self all but vanished, leaving behind a being of pure rage and hatred. In the grim darkness of the far future, Angron remains a nightmarish figure, a raging warlord whose existence is an unending storm of violence, forever driven by the Butcher’s Nails and the will of the Blood God.
