Emperor of Mankind in the Webway

The Emperor of Mankind’s Webway Project was one of his most ambitious undertakings, aimed at creating a stable and human-controlled passage through the Warp, known as the Webway. This ancient network, originally constructed by the Eldar, would allow humanity to travel vast distances instantaneously without the dangers associated with Warp travel, such as daemonic incursions and temporal distortions. The Emperor’s ultimate goal was to unite the galaxy under his rule and provide a safe and efficient means of travel, which would solidify the Imperium’s dominance and safeguard humanity’s future.

However, the project faced significant challenges, both technical and metaphysical. The construction involved linking Terra directly to the Webway, a task that required immense resources and the Emperor’s personal attention. The project’s secrecy and complexity also bred suspicion and resentment among the Primarchs and other key figures within the Imperium. Ultimately, the project was sabotaged during the Horus Heresy, leading to a catastrophic breach that allowed daemons to invade the Imperial Palace. This failure forced the Emperor to take drastic measures, including his internment on the Golden Throne, where he remains to this day, maintaining the fragile barrier between the Warp and the Webway.
