Demetrian Titus: The Reluctant Hero of the Ultramarines

Early Life and Induction into the Ultramarines

Demetrian Titus was born on the agri-world of Tarentus, growing up in a humble family of modest means. Selected as an Aspirant by Ultramarines selector Metaurus, who noted his fearlessness, Titus excelled through the trials of the 10th Company and became a Space Marine. Despite struggling with his temper in his youth, he grew into a decorated warrior. However, doubts about his survival in a Chaos campaign, where his squad was lost but he slew a Chaos Sorcerer, led to questions about his reputation. Over time, his decisive victories in seemingly impossible odds silenced these doubts, earning him respect within his Chapter.

Service with the 2nd Company

Fifty years after becoming a Space Marine, Titus joined the 2nd Company under Captain Severus Agemman during the aftermath of the First Tyrannic War. The Company aided in purging Ultramar’s worlds of Hive Fleet Behemoth. As Sergeant of the Command Squad under Captain Lucian Trajan, Titus led multiple Kill Teams, developing a distinctive approach of studying Xenos tactics through close combat. Under Agemman’s mentorship, both Titus and Trajan honed their skills as warriors and leaders during this campaign of reconstruction and vengeance.

Triumph and Tragedy on Beta-Arcturus

A century later, the 2nd Company responded to the invasion of Beta-Arcturus by Biel-Tan Eldar forces. Captain Trajan personally slew the Xenos Autarch while Titus and his squad held off their Aspect Warriors. However, when the Eldar captured Ultramarine Leandros, Trajan led a rescue mission that ended in an ambush, costing him his life. Titus, taking command in the aftermath, rallied the Company to drive off the Eldar, recovering both Leandros and Trajan’s body. His leadership during this crisis marked him as a capable and trusted commander.

Rise to Captain of the 2nd Company

Upon returning to Macragge, Titus was promoted to Captain of the 2nd Company by Chapter Master Marneus Calgar. Though initially reluctant, Titus accepted the role and dedicated himself to leading the Company with honor. Using the Strike Cruiser Righteous Fury, he led the 2nd to numerous victories. Senior Ultramarines, including Calgar and Agemman, praised his humility, tactical brilliance, and loyalty, seeing him as a shining example of the values upheld by the Ultramarines Chapter.
