The Death Guard: Heralds of Decay and Despair
The Death Guard: Servants of Decay
The Death Guard are among the most feared Traitor Legions in Warhammer 40,000, devoted to the Chaos God Nurgle, the Lord of Decay. Once a loyal Space Marine Legion, their fall began during the Horus Heresy when their Primarch, Mortarion, made a desperate pact with Nurgle. Twisted by this bargain, the Death Guard became plague-ridden monstrosities, sustained by Nurgle’s foul gifts and spreading disease and despair in his name.
Unstoppable Warriors of Corruption
The Death Guard’s fighting style is defined by their overwhelming endurance and relentless attrition. Slow but unstoppable, their Plague Marines endure devastating wounds, blessed by Nurgle’s unnatural resilience. Armed with bolters, plague weapons, and virulent toxins, they march forward with grim inevitability, corroding armor and infecting flesh as they go.
Engines of Pestilence and Despair
The Death Guard’s vehicles and Daemon Engines are extensions of their corruption, spewing clouds of pestilence that poison the air and rot the ground. Their presence transforms battlefields into miasmas of decay, wearing down their enemies through disease and horror. Despite their grotesque appearance, they are frighteningly effective, embodying Nurgle’s power to reduce all to ruin.
