C’TAN SHARD OF THE NIGHTBRINGER
The Nightbringer is one of the C’tan Shards in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, which is a tabletop game set in a dystopian sci-fi universe. The C’tan were once powerful star gods, but were betrayed and shattered into fragments by their Necron servants, who turned against them. The Nightbringer is perhaps the most infamous of these shards.
Size and Appearance
The Nightbringer is depicted as a towering, skeletal figure, often resembling a grim reaper with a sinister scythe. While exact sizes can vary depending on the shard and how it is represented on the game table, it’s generally shown as significantly larger than human or Necron warriors, towering over them menacingly. In model form, it stands considerably taller than most other units.
Strength and Abilities
The Nightbringer is known for its incredible strength and destructive capabilities. It is one of the most powerful melee combatants in the Warhammer 40,000 game, capable of cutting down almost any enemy with its scythe, which can even damage ethereal and incorporeal entities.
In game terms, the Nightbringer has several key abilities that reflect its powerful nature:
- Gaze of Death: This ability allows the Nightbringer to unleash a deadly gaze that can obliterate multiple foes at once, reflecting its ability to sow death with a mere look.
- Fearless: The Nightbringer is immune to psychology and thus fearless, never retreating and never hesitating.
- Necrodermis Body: As a being of living metal, the Nightbringer has a high resilience to damage, representing its near-immortal nature as a fragment of a star god.
The Nightbringer also has a significant impact on the lore of Warhammer 40,000. It is said to have instilled the primal fear of death into the hearts of the younger races, making it a figure of terror across the galaxy.
