Another cover Tze Kun Chin did for “Damnation Crusade” Issue #3 by Boom! Studios. This time Tze Kun Chin wanted to capture up close, that hatred the Black Templars have over their most wretched of foes, the Chaos Space Marines.
The Unyielding Faith of the Black Templars
The Black Templars are not just another Chapter of Space Marines; they are living embodiments of unwavering faith, forged by the Emperor’s divine wrath. Clad in black armor adorned with purity seals and sacred relics, they march across the stars as crusaders, much like the medieval knights of old. However, their battlefield stretches beyond planets, and their weapons are chainswords and bolters. Unlike other Chapters, the Black Templars scorn the Codex Astartes’ restrictions, embracing the freedom of the eternal crusade to purge the galaxy of heresy and corruption.
Crusaders of Righteous Fury
Led by High Marshals, warriors of legendary skill, the Black Templars’ Crusades are unstoppable forces of righteous fury. Their zealous beliefs leave no room for compromise or weakness, as they view psykers, witches, and mutants as vile affronts to the Emperor’s divine will. Unlike other Chapters, the Black Templars do not rely on Librarians, seeing psychic powers as a taint upon the soul. Instead, their Chaplains lead them, reciting litanies of hate and prayers to the Emperor, driving them forward into the heart of the enemy. Every blow struck in battle is a hymn to their god, reinforcing their faith and determination.
Masters of Battle and Unstoppable Zeal
In battle, the Black Templars are overwhelming and relentless. They are masters of close combat, with weapons blessed by their Chaplains, each kill a testament to their devotion. Their ranks swell with neophytes, eager to prove their worth and become the next generation of legends. As they charge into battle, their voices rise in a battle hymn, echoing the unyielding fury and faith that drive them. To face the Black Templars is to face the Emperor’s wrath incarnate, for they are His sword, shield, and undying fury.
