Blood Angels: The Noble Warriors of Tragic Legacy

Origins and Early History
The Blood Angels are one of the original twenty Space Marine Legions created by the Emperor of Mankind during the Great Crusade. Their Primarch, Sanguinius, was discovered on the radiation-scorched world of Baal Secundus. With his angelic wings and noble spirit, Sanguinius quickly became a beloved figure, not just to his Legion but to the Emperor himself. Under his leadership, the Blood Angels developed a reputation for their martial prowess, honor, and deep appreciation for art and beauty. These qualities set them apart from their brother Legions and solidified their place as one of the most iconic forces in the Imperium.
The Great Crusade
During the Great Crusade, the Blood Angels played a vital role in many of the Imperium's most significant victories. Known for their ferocity and valor in battle, they were often at the forefront of the Emperor’s campaigns to reunite humanity. Sanguinius's leadership was marked by his nobility and compassion, traits that inspired loyalty and admiration across the Imperium. These qualities made the Blood Angels not only formidable warriors but also symbols of hope and unity in an era of great strife and expansion.
The Horus Heresy
The Blood Angels were central to the events of the Horus Heresy, the devastating civil war that tore the galaxy apart. During the Siege of Terra, Sanguinius and his Legion fought valiantly to defend the Imperial Palace, standing as a bulwark against the forces of Chaos. In the final confrontation aboard the Vengeful Spirit, Sanguinius faced Horus himself. Though he was ultimately slain, his sacrifice paved the way for the Emperor to defeat Horus, ensuring the survival of the Imperium. Sanguinius’s death remains one of the most pivotal and tragic moments in Warhammer 40,000 lore.
The Red Thirst and the Black Rage
After Sanguinius’s death, the Blood Angels were cursed with two genetic flaws: the Red Thirst and the Black Rage.
