Origins and Purpose



The Sisters of Silence are an ancient and secretive order within the Imperium, tracing their origins back to the Great Crusade. Founded under the directive of the Emperor himself, they were created to serve as a countermeasure against the dangers posed by rogue psykers and the forces of the Warp. Unlike most Imperial institutions, they do not answer to the Ecclesiarchy or even the Adeptus Terra, instead operating under the direct authority of the Silent Sisterhood and the Black Ships. Their primary mission is to hunt down and apprehend unsanctioned psykers, ensuring that these individuals are either properly trained or eliminated to prevent catastrophic Warp incursions. Over the millennia, their role has expanded, and they are now frequently deployed to combat daemonic entities and Chaos sorcerers, making them one of the Imperium’s most effective weapons against psychic threats.



The Power of the Pariah Gene



What sets the Sisters of Silence apart from any other force in the Imperium is their possession of the Pariah gene, which makes them psychic blanks. This genetic anomaly strips them of any connection to the Warp, creating an aura of nullification that disrupts psychic abilities and repels daemonic entities. To ordinary humans, their presence is unsettling, often evoking feelings of unease or even dread. For psykers, however, their proximity is agonizing, as it suppresses their abilities and can even cause them physical pain. This makes the Sisters of Silence particularly effective against Chaos Sorcerers, Tyranid synapse creatures, and Eldar Seers, as their very existence negates the advantages these beings rely upon.
