Order of the Ebon Chalice: Guardians of Faith and Fury in the Imperium
Origins of the Ebon Chalice
The Order of the Ebon Chalice is one of the oldest and most revered Orders Militant of the Adepta Sororitas. It was established in the 36th Millennium by Ecclesiarch Alexis XXII, shortly after the Convent Sanctorum was divided between Ophelia VII and Terra. From this division emerged several new Orders, including the Ebon Chalice, Valorous Heart, Fiery Heart, and Argent Shroud. The Ebon Chalice was founded in honour of Saint Alicia Dominica, the original Matriarch of the Sisters of Battle. This sacred lineage has shaped the Order’s identity as stalwart guardians of the Imperial Creed. Their doctrine is deeply rooted in purity of purpose, strict discipline, and absolute loyalty to the Emperor.
Trials in the Era Indomitus
Since the opening of the Great Rift at the dawn of the Era Indomitus, the Ebon Chalice has faced threats unlike any in recent history. Chaos pours across the stars, threatening to tear apart the very heart of the Imperium. In response, the Sisters fight side by side with ancient allies like the Adeptus Custodes, Space Marines, and Adeptus Mechanicus. The Ebon Chalice has earned renown for their relentless drive, particularly in their annihilation of Chaos warbands such as the Blades of the Despoiler. This Khornate host of the Black Legion had been carving a path of carnage toward Terra before being stopped. Still, the cost of victory has been steep, and the Order has suffered grievous losses.
The Path to Battle-Sisterhood
Despite the constant turmoil, the Schola Progenium continues to provide new candidates for the Order’s ranks. However, only the most exceptional initiates are selected to undergo the Order's harsh and demanding trials. Even among these, only a few complete the brutal initiation rites required to become full battle-sisters. This rigorous standard ensures the purity and skill of their warriors but also limits their numbers. A
